Major Hill,Sr.

Mr. Major Hill, Sr. was born on October 6,1933, being the only survivor out of 3 sets of twins born to Mr. and Mrs. Tommy and Flossie Hill. He was educated in Early County, Ga. At an early age he joined Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church and served faithfully until moving his membership to Thomas Grove Freewill Baptist Church. During his tenure at Thomas Grove he was a faithful Deacon and choir member for over 30 years. He was also a very faithful member of the Calhoun County Male Chorus for over 50 years.

In 1955, he enlisted in the United States Army. After retuning home he was employed by C. Board Coastline until he retired. He held several other important roles in the surrounding communities including being a truck and school bus driver, a masonic lodge member, and most importantly, a dear friend to many. He taught many men and women the importance of serving God and other people. Mr. Hill helped as many people as he could along his life journey and because of this we are certain that his living was not in vain! He loved to watch WCW wrestling and his favorite baseball team, The Atlanta Braves. He never met a stranger and would talk to anyone. His jovial personality gained him favor with many people.

Mr. Major Hill, Sr. completed his Earthly journey on January 29,2023 and joined his parents Tommy & Flossie Hill, his siblings Riley Hill, Sr., O.C. Mitchell and Inez Hill, and his three children Willie M. Franklin, Michelle Knight and Lakeisha Hill in heaven.

Mr. Major Hill, Sr. leaves to cherish his memory his sons: Major Hill, Jr. of Arlington, GA, Grady Hill, Sr. (Vicki) of Bainbridge, GA, Harvey L. Jones and Tony Hill of Damascus, GA, Nora Barnes (Shae) of Alexandria, VA, Robert Franklin (Terrie) of Sicklerville, NJ, Michael Hill  (Jessica) of Gray, GA, and Herbert Hill of Thailand. His daughters: Sherry L. Kendrick of Greer, SC, Ansley Tillman of Albany, GA, Semica Henderson of Valdosta, GA, LaCarrie Davis (Patrick) of Edison, GA, Kathy Henderson (Darryl) of Griffin, GA, Tamondra H. Luster (Tommy) of Leesburg, GA, Bonnie Johnson (Alan) of Ellenwood, GA, and Bobbie Jones (Russell) of Lakewood, WA. His sister, Lucille H. Jordan. He also leaves 49 grandchildren, 55 great grandchildren. 9 great great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends!
