Barbara Ann (Jones) Lavette

Barbara A. Jones Lavette was born in Baker County on March13,1956, to the late Inez Jones Robinson and Sam Bodiford. She departed this life on February 11,2023, peacefully at her home.

She confessed Jesus Christ at an early age and joined New Prospect Missionary Baptist Church of Arlington, Georgia. As an adult, she later joined Bethel American Methodist Episcopal Church of Damascus, Georgia, and served as a stewardess and chairman of the kitchen committee.

Queen Barbara married her King, Joe Lavette, Sr., on June5,1974.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Inez Robinson; five siblings, Charlie Jones, Morris Jones, Faith Hill, Riley Hill, Jr., and Kenneth Bodiford; four brothers-in-law, Lonnie Lavette, Jr., Harry Lavette, Willie D. Lavette, and Freddie Wallace; and one sister-in-law, Shai Lavette.

She leaves to cherish her precious memories:  her husband, Joe Lavette, Sr.; four children, Debra Ann (Darrell) Pinkney, Joe (Kesha) Lavette, Jr., Pamela (Kirfy) Dent, and Dewayne Lavette; fourteen grandchildren and nineteen great- grandchildren who loved her endlessly; six sisters, Angela Williams, Monice (Robert) Williams, both Arlington, GA, Lisa Grigley of Albany, Ga, Sandra (Talvin) Green of Boston, MA, Gloria (Gary) Gause of Mullins, SC, and Willie Mae Jones of Orlando, FL; two brothers, Wilotha Robinson, Jr., of Orlando, FL, and Hubert Bodiford of Albany, GA; several godchildren who loved her dearly; two brothers-in-law , Larry (Pat) Lavette and Bobby (Anita) Lavette, both of Arlington, GA; four sisters-in-law, Nancy Wallace of Arlington, Ga, Earlene Jones of Miami, FL., Rosetta Jones of Quitman, GA., and Diane Lavette of Detroit, MI; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
