Evelyn Butler, affectionately known as "Tootsie" was born in Colquitt, Georgia to the late Arnold Butler and Lula Mae Jay on April 7, 1951.

She was raised in Arlington, Georgia and attended school in Morgan, Georgia and a graduate of H.T. Singleton High School Class of 1969. She continued her education and became a licensed cosmetologist.

Evelyn married her childhood sweetheart, Reverend Jerome Severson which came to an end but she found love again with Roger Stubbs of Colquitt, Georgia. She was not married at the time of death but she was and always will be very loved.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Polly Burch and Warren Burch; siblings: Gloria Jay, Robert Taylor Dunbar, Marvin Jay, Henry Henderson and Michael Jay; special nephews: Stevie Johnson and Antonio Jay.

Evelyn "Tootsie" leaves to cherish her memories her children: Barry (Stephanie) Severson, Ronnie Severson, and Larissa Carter; stepchildren: Victoria Stubbs, Erica Stubbs, and Roger Garrett; grandchildren: Alonzo Severson, Juwan (Chandler) Severson, Keenan Severson, Kennedy Jester, Nadri Severson, Zy'Candria Wade, Zaviou Wade Jr., Donovan Garrett, Kaiya Garrett, Arianna Ramirez, Zy'onna Walters, Ty'onn Stubbs; siblings: John Louis Jay, Barbara J. Curry, Linda Hudson, Alexander Jay, Beatrice J. Johnson, Chrissy Butler, Lisa Butler, Mittie Stubbs, Ruby Bell, Flossie Anderson; other surviving relatives: Cousin Robert Humphrey (like a brother), Cousin Sylvia Lamar (cherished), Uncle William "Bill" Clarke (loving); Godsister, Penny White and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.
